Home Rocky Road

From Classic Rock to Progessive to hip hop to today's hot new tunes!

I would say so...

I interpret "owned" to mean that it's basically impossible to sever the link in the public's mind between an artist and a particular song. There are certain people who you probably shouldn't cover. Who was that band that covered "Behind Blue Eyes" a couple of years ago? Limp Bizkit? What the heck were they thinking? Why do a by the numbers take on a song sung by as distinctive a vocalist as Daltrey? Why set yourself up for failure? It's nice that they paid a little homage to their influences, but it's clear that they didn't have enough material to fill up their last record.

I have heard that Barber record you mentioned. Her band isn't horrible, but she sings like she's reading the instructions for assembling a gas grill out loud. It's hard to imagine why anybody with a monotone drone like her would think she can sing soul tunes. By the way, I don't like the Bill Withers cover either.
