During Spring Break 1995, some of my relatives from Hawaii came to San Francisco, and stayed at my house. At the time, the Cranberries' "Ode To My Family" was a hit. That song was written while the band was on tour, and its members missed family back home in Ireland.
At the time, my girlfriend ACS, an MCB major, was in her final semester at UC Berkeley. She would take the time, to secure a job at Genentech.
But ACS was also working a few hours a week at the Victoria's Secret in the St. Francis Hotel, on Union Square. She would come with me, to audio stores.
Using "Ode To My Family," ACS convinced me to get a California Audio Labs Delta CD transport. She said the shoebox-shaped Delta was a physical match, for our Theta Cobalt 307 DAC.
Listening to "Ode To My Family" brings us back 30 years, when high-end audio was peaking. Oh how the mighty have fallen.
