Oh man, here in California, Fall 1993 was sunny and hot. For me and my friends, The Ocean Blue's "Bliss Is Unaware" represented leaving the Bay Area, on our virgin road trips to SoCal. We were new and/or inexperience drivers. We had paper maps. Once we went across the Bay Bridge to the Oakland side, we had to find 580, 580 going inland, not up to Richmond.
We'd eventually hit that 580/205/I-5 triangle. And find I-5 south. We were taken aback, that I-5 was just 2 lanes each way. We would stop every hour or two, get gas, share a Big Gulp, and switch drivers.
"Bliss Is Unaware" also represented our first morning in SoCal, and heading for the beaches. 30 years later, we still like "Bliss Is Unaware," which evokes those memories of transitioning to adulthood.
