Perhaps because, during the summer of 1988, my friends were already in San Francisco, we knew about Huey Lewis and the News' new album, Small World.

Actually, I had gone to Mass at St. Mary's Cathedral. Afterwards, friends came over to my house. In those days, they just dropped by unannounced, and rang the doorbell.

Somebody had the CD, and we loved "Small World (Part One)." We were not sure why it wasn't a bigger hit, and indeed, it still languishes to this day.

When I actually got to meet local audiophiles in the latter half of the 1990s, somebody in the Richmond District actually had this CD, and hadn't played it since, well, 1988. Sounded great, via California Audio Labs front end.

"Small World (Part Two)" is almost all-instrumental.
