I get a mild amount of complaints, that we aren't spending enough time on the music of 1981 (35th anniversary).
As a 9-year-old, I would go down to my neighbor's apartment. There, the stepdad, who looked like a Korean American Jackson Browne, was the cool guy, who played popular music for us neighborhood kids. My memories are hazy, but I know I enjoyed an obscure rock song called, "Breaking Away," by something called Balance. I seem to recall that I wanted to dance to it, but no one would join me.
Balance's guitarist was Bob Kulick, whose younger brother, Bruce, would join Kiss. Other than that, I don't know much about this, other than the good news that the YouTube audio sounds much better than the crummy vinyl record my downstairs neighbor had.
