Ariana Grande, "One Last Time"

I'm going to (yet another) kids' party. At these large (they never have fewer than 50 attendees) events, you hear songs which are over a year old. Thus, we've begun to hear Ariana Grande's "One Last Time" at gyms, picnics, rinks, college art/music/multimedia studios, arcades, jumpers, and other party venues.

The interesting thing about "One Last Time" is that it was a relative commercial failure, only peaking at #13. First of all, it sounds like it came from the late-90s, which makes it less appealing to today's school kids (music's primary market). And then, the video (see link below), critical to reaching the general public, was perceived as just plain weird.

Yet, almost 2 years after "One Last Time" was made available, it has made significant inroads with millennials and us young adults. Not only do you hear it at those kids' parties, but you'll now find it on adult contemporary radio. In that sense, "One Last Time" is a more mature effort for Grande, kind of like when, for our generation, Madonna came out with True Blue.
