Audiophiles regularly ask me if I'm pulling a Clark Kent/Superman or Miley Cyrus/Hannah Montana duality, by being Luminator in real life, and moonlighting as a professional audio reviewer (or vice versa). Although I've written about audio and music since high school -- my teachers wish I hadn't :-) -- I have never been a professional (paid or otherwise) writer. If you would actually meet me in person, you'd be able to verify all the people, places, jobs, and music I hold a mirror to.
We have been enjoying this wave of music from 1986. However, one of my audiophile friends says that that wasn't a good year or era for him. So he asked for an aural snapshot of the "Reagan decay." When it comes to 1986, David + David's Boomtown album comes to mind. The edgy "Welcome To The Boomtown" can melt away the intervening 30 years, and make it seem like you are back in '86, and more specifically Los Angeles.
And if you wish to continue in that vein, you can follow it up with Slayer's Reign In Blood. But more on that later.
