While controversial to fans centered on his "jersey shore" albums, Tom Joad is my favorite mature Bruce album-- and sounds excellent on vinyl. Also Tunnel of Love. At audio shows I've heard Joad used as a demo-quality LP on some great systems.

As with any important artist, the takeaway from Springsteen varies for each listener. Similar to Joad and Tunnel, Wrecking Ball is a creative departure-- which may account for the wide variations in critical reception.
