Re: Hip Halloween Hooting

Wow...Zacherly! A blast from the past for me, since he was the host (in ghoulish make up) of the NYC area's monster movie program on Saturday nights when I was a kid, as well as hosting similar shows on and off through out the '60s. Later on he hosted ( in same make up) an afternoon TV rock show on a UHF station out of New Jersey that featured local bands competing for a Kama Sutra records recording contract, and teens dancing to the current hits in an eerie setting decorated with grisly props, smoking cauldrons, and other such things from his old monster movie program. It was sort of a very low budget, bizzare version of 'American Bandstand'. I loved it! He occasionally interviewed established rock groups such as Loving Spoonful, as well as up and coming acts. I got to see the Doors there for the first time! Morrison never said a word, but wandered around the set staring at things...very wierd. Zacherly asked the other band members if he always acted so strange...heh heh. Anyway, they did not perform, but the 'Light My Fire' single was introduced, and we all know what a huge hit that became in 1967. I recall running out to buy it and that was well before it was getting radio airplay.

Here are a few suggestions for your list:

The Doors' 'The End', and 'Riders On the Storm'

Blue Oyster Cult's 'Don't Fear The Reaper', 'Joan Crawford', 'Nosferatu', 'Vampire Tattoo', and 'Godzilla'...and many more.

Edgar Winter's 'Frankenstein

New York Dolls' 'Frankenstein'

Outlaws' or Blues Brothers 2000 version of 'Ghost Riders in the Sky'

The Eagles' Witchy Woman'

Santana's version of 'Black Magic Woman'

Warren Zevon's 'Werewolves of London'

Have fun!
