Home Music Lane

It's all about the music, dude! Sit down, relax and listen to some tunes.

For recording quality on normal redbook cd...

...try Jim Hall's 'Live at the Village Vanguard' on Telarc, at the world famous joint in NY; or, try Bill Bruford's Earthworks 'Footloose and Fancy Free' on Digital Global Mobile - recorded at the Pizza Express Jazz Club, in Soho, London 2001.

Neither of these is particularly considered 'audiophile' [ie, they're outside the normal music-radar reaches of the 'grey brigade'] and so don't attract 'audiophile' prices, but their sound quality surpasses many a sterile 'audiophile' silver disc, including some of the brands listed below. And by the way, unlike a lot of sonically sublime dross, the music on these is pretty good, especially the Bill Bruford disc(s - its a double).
