yeah, I know Bridge Over Troubles Waters is likely the second most covered song after Hey Jude (which I think holds the record) but maybe someone can ID this.I was listening to NPR the other day and heard a story on an artist that included a portion of a cover of Bridge Over Troubled Waters but I can't remember the artist's name. It sounded like a big black women. Her bio was that she started in Gospel, got into pop R&B and even had a disco hit but is now getting back to her roots and doing more blues.
I like the vocals on this version and especially the instrumentation which included a hammond organ and a piano on top of the typical guatar, drums, bass combo plus maybe some horns. The rendition had a jazz/blue feel with maybe just a touch of gospel.
This sound familiar?
