Re: remastering of 78's and Walter's '36 & '38 Mozart

I was reading this thread whilst listening to Mozart Symphonies 38 (Prague) & 41 (Jupiter)/VPO/Walter - originally recorded in 1936 & 1938 respectively and re-issued on an EMI/mfp 2061 mono LP, of I guess late 1960's vintage, which I picked up over the week-end for pennies, in lovely snap, pop & crack free condition.

It is stunning when compared to more recent LP recordings/ interpretation by Bernstein, Bohm, Ferencsik, Solti, which I also have in my collection. It manages to convey the music - unless I'm just drowning in nostalgia - and it must have been transcribed from 78's?

Priceless,

FW
