It's all about the music, dude! Sit down, relax and listen to some tunes.

DeeCee: Bands with Horns, Greg Adams con't

There was a thread a while back where I asked about pop music with horn section. You said this:

Don't forget his side guy, Maceo Parker. Also Greg Adams (TOP fame) has a solo album out (that I only heard one tune from).

Others, I know but remember I cannot.

If you didn't read back, I posted a thank you for the tip on Greg Adams, I got his (only, unfortunately) CD from someone on Ebay for $1. I got the CD today and really like it a lot (see below).

But I just have to ask, are there others that you couldn't remember then that you remember now? If not, that's OK, this one was worth it.

Greg Adams: although I'm a former orchestral and big band trombone player, trumpet is my favorite instrument. I don't like listening to trumpet players who only play mellow. I keep waiting for them to "turn it on". Greg Adams can turn it on, although most of the album is somewhat mellow. The first song is hard and fast. Peculiarly there are no other songs on the album to match this one as far as pace goes. It's heavy on bass and drums which I like. The bulk of the songs seem to have a lot of thought put into them and although I can't explain it in words, they just seem to have a purpose. Then in another peculiarity, although the whole album is instrumental, there is one vocal song thrown in there. It's almost too typical of a song, but very nice nonetheless. Almost as if the vocalist is a friend that he wanted to do a favor for by including her on the album.

Does anyone know if he's been instrumental (little joke there) in any other recordings or why he hasn't done any others himself?
Jeff
