to believe the playing. last time i saw him live he was jumping up and down a foot in the air while playing and he was AWESOME! i live in LA and have the advantage of seeing him live periodically.
i certainly second the vic wooten vote. abe, however, is nearly in a class by himself. he was mancinis bassist of choice for a while, i saw him in lalo schifrins band with paul horn before i knew who he was and was mightily impressed (1970s).
he is also a nice man and his son plays drums. hes on many records like ray brown was and now christian mc bride (acoustic).
there are sooooooo many!
