I have around a thousand classical CDs accumulated over almost twenty years, but it took me all that time to "get" the Brahms chamber music. I'd only approached it through the Quartets, the Clarinet Quintet, and the Clarinet Trio. Nothing had clicked.Hearing the Suk/Katchen sonatas and the Piano Trios is what did me in.
I like the Raphael a lot -- recording seems good, sort of typical of Hyperion, maybe a little forward. I haven't heard other versions... give me time!
