I check out a LOT of CD's from the library, and you are absolutely right, many are in horrible condition. So I bought a Skip Doctor from Best Buy for $50 (I got the mechanized one, not the hand crank one). Best $50 I ever spent. Now, I simply put the CDs through a couple of revolutions, buff them a bit, and viola! they are in like-new condition. And the library gets to use them longer before having to ditch them because they are unplayable.
