It is hard of course to define jazz, although I once read a pretty good definition that it had to have two elements, 1) improvisation and 2) be in some way related to the blues. I am probably not doing a good job of articulating the second part, I think I read it in the All Music Guide to Jazz. By that definition there is nothing at all jazzy about Celine Dion. Nor is there by my own definition, something like, You know it when you hear it.
