Tonight I went to hear the Michel Camilo Trio at the Catalina Bar & Grill (Los Angeles). Michel on piano, Anthony Jackson on bass, Horatio Hernandez on drums.
In a word: stunning. All three musicians were phenomenal, turning passion and technical ferocity into a jazz fireball. Many of the tunes came from Camilo's new Telarc CD, Triangulo, which is excellent itself.
For anyone that lives in L.A., Michel Camilo will be playing through the weekend, and it's worth your effort to try to get tix.
