For Fingal's Cave, I always liked Peter Maag on a London LP. I'm not at home, so I can't get the number for you. Dohnanyi also has a find recording coupled with very good recordings of the symphonies.I haven't listened much to the Violin Concerto for years, especially after discovering the Beethoven and Brahms. I rather like the Heifetz stereo recording, and though I am something of a Francescatti fan, I don't like his version. For a good modern recording, Jean Jacques Kantorow's recording on Denon is very fine.
