I will try (?) to restrict the discussion to Wagner playing (*).
Let me tell you a secret. Barenboin was not the first one to play Wagner. It was done, less extravagantly, in several occasions already. I'm also quite sure there were broadcasts of episodes from Wagner operas in the "culture" channel. The old people who oppose playing Wagner seem to only mind about the old philharmonic, the "official" Israeli orchestra. Nothing to do with "moving on", or what happens here, on the contrary, I see this is a sign of tolerance.

(*) Even if I didn't, You wouldn't have heard a word from me against secularization or total equal rights and opportunities for Arabs. But sadly, looking around, religion will not finish being an issue in this part of the world, just look what happens in Turkey which has already been a very secular country, where Islam is rising. And stopping mutual hatred and fear, ahhh, tell me about it.
And sorry for slipping further but:
Apartheid ? I've never been to south africa, and I'm not saying that things in this respect are even remotedly OK here, but from what I've read and saw about Africa there's no case of comparison (like, did blacks have vote there ?) Is this based on solid facts such as MuzikMike's license plates issue below ?
And Ruben, maybe some reflection on your side, talking about nations settling in lands which were others' for thousands of years ?
