While I don't know that all of them are multi-miked, I have a couple of Phase 4's that "brag" about all the microphones they used. The one I'm thinking about (don't ask me to look for it, for God's sake!) had a mike on every drum, about 3 or 4 on all the other percussion instuments, I believe 3 on the piano alone, and 2 or 3 in each of the string sections and the same with the horn sections...if I remember correctly it added up to about 30 or more microphones! "Every nuance is captured, every note!" or some such garbage!But THAT wouldn't have any effect, would it? Sheesh! The shame is that many of the performances are great!
