My first experience with the Beethoven string quartets was in a performance by the Budapest SQ. However I have been very disappointed in both the performances and the sound of the recordings. You might consider the Alexander or Lindsay SQ's, both of which are well played and recorded. The Alexander is on a budget label as well.
