Home Music Lane

It's all about the music, dude! Sit down, relax and listen to some tunes.

Thanks...

Mike,

Currently I live in Killeen Tx. (also a small town area) and my "best friend" is I-35 in which I get to various events in Austin (6th Street has some great jazz clubs), Dallas/FW, and San Antonio within 1-3 hours. It appears that I will be doing the same there in Alabama to include trips to Nashville, Memphis, Chattanooga, Atlanta, and Birmingham of which are within 2-3 hours. The real key is Huntsville Alabama (2nd largest city in the state with an Int'l airport), for it is a 45 minute trip (much like going to Austin for me now). I know that Huntsville is no Austin, but I am counting on it being at least size wise more like say Co. Springs or Pueblo.

As for the small town thing, believe you me, I have "been-there-done-that" with 3 years in Fairbanks Ak. before arriving in Texas. Believe it or not, there was a small but workable "music scene" in this tiny city (Total pop. including outlying areas- 75K). The main problem for me was that civilization (Anchorage) was 7 hours away and only available 4-5 months of the year. No one chances being stranded (ice and car breakdown) from Fairbanks to Anchorage from Oct-May. In conclusion, I know that this area that I am examining is more like what I am currently used to in Texas and remains WARM !!!

Note- Times given are estimated by driving.

Thanks :-)
