When released there was either an article or an in-depth review of Indian Architexture and another Water Lily LP in TAS. Both albums received extreme raves. The writer felt those 2 albums were the finest recordings ever made by Water Lily and if I recall correctly among a handful of the finest recordings ever.
As a fan of Indian classical music I felt privileged to live a few miles from his Ali Akbar Khan College of Music. They had frequent concerts with performances by Ali Akbar Khan, Swapan Chaudhuri, Zakir Hussain and other well-known Indian musicians. The college also sponsored a local Indian cultural festival with many musical and classical Indian dance performances. Such good stuff.
In addition to being a world-class musician Ali Akbar Khan was a gentle man and a superb host always striving to ensure concert goers felt at home. He had a way that made people unfamiliar with Indian classical music to enjoy what they experienced at his gigs.
Anyone interested in acquiring the Indian Architexture LP I suggest watching ebay and being patient. Sooner or later one will turn up at a reasonable price--sometimes good deals are available during summer months.
