Ustad (in addition to playing traditional) took the traditional and blended it with Western music -
usually VERY succesfully as with "Garden of Dreams" and spent much of his life in Marin County,
establishing the Ali Akbar College of Music in 1967.
He was the definition of a World Class Musician in all regards.
