In 2015, Sunnyside records released "The Talk of the Town" 2 CD-set by criminally underrated and underrecorded pianist Sal Mosca. Absolute marvel of the music. Recorded in Amsterdam, 1992. It's a solo performance, all of the songs are standards, but make no mistake here, once you put the CD in you're not going to stop the player until the music ends. He puts so much soul and emotion in his performance it's unimaginable. Anyone who thinks he's a jazz fan should get it. Rec quality is very good.
The other one is Jaco Pastorius's "Truth, Liberty & Soul." Released in 2017 (recorded in 1982) on Resonance. Again, 2 CD set, again great performance. What a bass player he was and what a tragic life he had. Anyway, any of Jaco's fans, and not only them, will enjoy this set, no question about that. Rec quality is more than acceptable.
