I always appreciate your reviews, and hate to look a gift horse in the mouth, but please remember to use the full names, or at least the last names, of cited performers somewhere in your review. There are at least three babe pianists named Vanessa around currently. And even if there were only one, revealing the last name would save me some research.
Your comment about the badly-judged rubato is telling. I find many otherwise fine newer performances of standards are marred by minor (sometines major) annoying details like that, possibly due to ill-advised attempts to create a mark of individuality or stand out from the dozens of earlier performers of the same work. Alas, individuality, or a compelling, unique performance personality, is not so easily created, or common.
And ime this problem is not limited to beautiful young babes.
