Home Music Lane

It's all about the music, dude! Sit down, relax and listen to some tunes.

Or ...

you can get the original Columbia vinyl set on ebay right now for as little as $29.75 (or best offer).
As big fan of the Juilliard Quartet of the Robert Mann era, I've never understood how chunks of their discography, even from the stereo era, can be left oop.
Their 10 RCA records from circa 1957-62, all but the first two of which are in stereo, were partially but not fully reissued on CD by Testament. Other 60s stereo records on Columbia remain oop.
JDaniel will tell you that their original mono Bartok cycle with original cellist Arthur Winograd is the one to get. Either way, for me, they still stand alone at the top of the string quartet hierarchy. Chris from Lafayette may get mad, but this is an example where older really is better. Sorry. ;-)
