Do you think having some conductors turn down the NYP is unusual, whereas the best orchestras normally get their first choice?
'Course who qualifies as a top conductor is likely a question which would elicit widely varying responses from Music posters. There are some conductors on the linked (highlghted)top 10 list that don't seem to be talked about much here.
