Home Music Lane

It's all about the music, dude! Sit down, relax and listen to some tunes.

Agreed about the Linn, very wide dynamic range and hard to find good volume level

I listen to the old classic Argo as well, still an involving experience and they do indeed capture some of the incidental "Straussian" suspensions which others miss. Whether the grinding, ecstatic suspensions were do to inaccurate pitch, who knows? : )

True about the early recording. I'll bet they were doing everything they could not to overload.

The Linn starts off with such beautiful singing though; too bad by the end I'm clenching my fists.

I recall being very pleased with the Harry Christophers SACD which Chris pictured below. Crystalline clarity throughout, even in the thick sections. 2 channel listener here.

But the Straussian suspensions are missing, ha ha.
