In the event that you haven't heard it, Tchaikovsky's 6th (STEREO) reading by FRICSAY/BERLIN PHILHARMONIKER on the HELIODOR label is simply sublime.

The imported pressing is as quiet as a church-mouse too!

FRICSAY and the Berliners were right up there with the best I have heard, which (for reference sake - in case you loathe them) I include ASHKENAZY/PO/DECCA and PLETNEV/RNO/VIRGIN.

(Sadly, the latter is CD-only and is not quite up to the earlier versions in terms of sparkling extended treble...)
