Yes, I knew that he had stifled her as a composer. However, the death of her daughter and the timing of her acquaintance with Gropius at a spa soon after, as her sense that she was "sexually deprived" in her marriage, surely contributed. And as you know, she had long consorted with artists, writers, composers and architects -- even a high-profile priest. And she had a well-publicized affair with the painter Kokoschka before marrying Gropius.
So, I kind of doubt that this one issue was a singular prod for her fling with Gropius. And she may have had other affairs that we don't know about. She was conscientious in her efforts to eradicate actual evidence of her affairs.
