Home Music Lane

It's all about the music, dude! Sit down, relax and listen to some tunes.

Although I didn't like his Beethoven Symphonies at all. . .

. . . I thought Thielemann did well with the Missa Solemnis - not least because of the mezzo-soprano part as sung by Elina Garanca (the blond in the picture below). I also had a DVD I liked with the Dresden Staatskapelle conducted by Fabio Luisi - but the soundtrack was lossy. There was also a good DVD-Audio recording of the work with Marc Soustrot conducting on the MDG label (although I'll never understand that label's compatibility claims for its 2+2+2 multi-channel recordings!). Of the more standard recommendations, I like the Giulini EMI recording.
