There are always exceptions of course.

BTW, it's not that I don't agree with fast outer movement tempi in the Mendelssohn e-minor, but in this case the tempi do line up with what one tends to hear from the HIPsters. Although I expressed myself with some mild sarcasm (I can't help myself sometimes), there was no value judgement intended in describing the choice of a fast tempo per se. Believe me, I'm not blaming HIPsters for this! ;-)
