Home Music Lane

It's all about the music, dude! Sit down, relax and listen to some tunes.

RE: Which is the lesser of two evils, surf music or Hawaiian music?

Hawaiian wins easily. I like the Keola Beamer school of Hawaiian music. IZ was sweet. Jack Johnson gets the aloha into current pop. Jake Shimakuburu is the current ukulele king. He does some amazing things. You cited things that were "contemporary" years ago and I agree those are a bit long in the tooth. We used to sing along to the wacky Waikikians when I was a kid. My dad had a Garrard and some decent speakers when those records were new.

For surf you can see the Beach Boys and get your head torn off by Dick Dale but I'm not aware of any new wave surf music.
