His Debussy recordings are my favorite set amoungst all released in the past 20 or so years. I also enjoy Ogawa's Debussy but just not so much I think.Based on Bavouzet's Debussy and the Ravel/Massanet/Debussy disc of piano/orchestral music by Chandos with the BBC SO led by Tortelier (highly recommended- by me) I picked up his Ravel set as you did. I like these performances quite a bit, but I too don't think the sonics are up to the Chandos disc's. FWIW if you don't care for the sonic's on those MG&D CD's don't buy Alain Planes' et on HM! They make the MG&D sound dull :-).
