I've gone through the first four Symphonies........ The First was very good, the Second was OK, the Third was fast and sloppy, and the Fourth was very good at the outset, but the final two movements were too fast and lacked melodic line.
It's a bad sign when I listen to a performance of a work, and then immediately crave to listen to a different performance of the same work. (I did this with Welser Moest's Beethoven 9.) I played Toscanini for the Eroica, the Rico Saccani YouTube of the B-4 finale.
Hopefully the remaining Symphonies will fare better.
