Doesn't the orchestra sound different depending where you sit in the hall? Also do you know what that orchestra sounds like in that hall without the sound system? There are a lot of variables here that effect the sound but I am a purist like you and would want to be told ahead of time what they were doing so I could make a decision if I wanted to attend the concert or not. Just saw a guitar concerto with the guitar being amplified and did not enjoy it because the guitar did not sound very good
