Louz Bonfa CD on Smithsonian/Folkways

Hi, Brazilian guitar music enthusiasts!

I just came back from our local Salvation Army Store here in Oakland, CA with one of the most amazing CD releases I have ever heard coming out of the vaults of the Smithsonian/Folkways these days!

This is a masterful recording made in 1959 by Emory Cook, an audio pioneer and world music recordist, who captured Luiz Bonfa in his prime!

This is a monaural recording made on Cook's Nagra III recorder (no mention of the microphone used), but it is quite amazing to hear!

What glorious, fantastic sounds! The whole title is "Luiz Bonfa, Solo in Rio 1959" SFW CD 40483

Check it out!

Who cares about stereo when mono sonds THIS GOOD?

WOW!
