Teresa, having a quick look at your Classical music for folks who don’t like Classical music list, I see a lot of items I would like to check out because I haven't heard them -- it is very clear that you have a very extensive listener experience, much more so than my own.One might say, (or at least I would), that my "250 Core" list is for people who like classical music as well as those who don't. It is about 85% a digest of the most highly-sited works by a number of music writers, rather than my own creation. I should be clear that I created the list for my own education much more so than for anyone else's, but I thought I'd share. Admittedly my list is very slightly weighted to my own preferences, that is, relatively:
- More chamber music
- Less Romantic era
- More Contemporary including atonal
- Fewer works of composers for whom I have yet to cultivate a taste, e.g. Schumann, Bruckner, Brahms
Bill Bailey
