Try also listening to her early version (mono only). She was much younger then and while the interpretation is not so moody, her vocal gymnastics are quite lovely and she displays a purity in tone which is, well, indicative of a younger voice. I like both and have many versions of the EMI with Szell, but the suppleness of her youthful voice was quite a revelation. It is a fascinating contrast of the 15+ years between recordings. One reeks of youth and life, and the other is melancholy and has visions of the end.
