... I would encourage a listen to Kevin Ayres' first album Joy Of A Toy, which follows straight along from his involvement with The Softs.
His later band (The Whole World) featured a very young Mike Oldfield on guitar and bass, Lol Coxhill on saxes and David Bedford on piano and some of that magic made it to disc.
The rerelease of the first includes the recording made with Syd Barret, if you are a fan of early Floyd, or, I guess, even if you aren't!
Checking the notes, it was an early version of Singing A Song In The Morning known as Religious Experience and perhaps (details unclear) recorded also with members of Caravan.
