As a long time fan of steel guitar, ever since Roger Waters "Pros & Cons of Hitchhiking" I'm always on the lookout for new and interesting bluesy music. Well, I'd been looking for "Sacred Steel" since $tereophile reviewed it a few months back. Thanks to Buyvideos.com for the Laserdisc fiasco that led me to getting this free.Let me say that I am by no means a religious nut. I'd just as soon have a Molson Golden on a Sunday morning as opposed to sit in a church, but I find bluesy gospel music to be pretty decent. This album "Sacred Steel" is phenomenal! Some live baptist southern black church music that just gets you up out of your seat and clapping. Lots of clean steel guitar. I can't say enough about this album. Can't wait to hear it on the Maggies as opposed to headphones (Grado SR60). Anyone into heartfelt steel guitar PICK THIS ONE UP!
I will say if you're extremely sensitive to references to religion in music, pass it by (2 versions of Amazing Grace, great BTW), but if you can accept the vein in which this music was produced, then I think you will find few albums to rival this.
Good luck!
