I must demur about CVD

Todd K and I were in Cleveland and heard him as music director there.

I never felt he was bad and the Clevelanders got along with him and made good music and records. I heard him over 25 times live. One of his best was a fiery Mahler 1st in 89. But it's true that sometimes, one felt after the concert as not fully satisfied.

I recall the Schumann 2nd in 2000 before his collaboration with M. Pollini in the Brahms 2nd pc, which was much better. Not very together, wandering, but the Brahms was OK.
