It's all about the music, dude! Sit down, relax and listen to some tunes.

Dave Brubeck Quartet at Carnegie Hall

Wow. I'm a big Brubeck fan, so I picked up "The Dave Brubeck Quartet at Carnegie Hall" today. I must say I am stunned with this recording. The whole 2 CD set is just filled with energy and emotion, and it is so well recorded that you can't help but feel you're right there in Carnegie Hall back in '63.

Dave is quite lively on the piano, Desmond is masterful on the alto sax as always, Eugene is rock solid on the upright bass, but I think the real star of this CD is Joe Morello who just commands his drum solos, especially "Castillian Drums".

This is definitely one of those CDs that makes you just sit back, tap your foot, and sometimes get up and groove along to the beat.

I couldn't be happier right now.

I just finished my DIY preamp a couple months ago, and it sounds sooo good I've been itching to build more (a DAC, maybe a 300B amp, something). But a recording like this makes me forget about all the hardware and just enjoy the music. I think at times in this hobby we all forget that new "Software" is by far the biggest upgrade to an already good system....especially NOS software! ;)
