Re: RCA Shaded Dogs - USA/ Canada/ UK/ Italy

I agree with this, in fact the whole "shaded dog" obsession is a bit over the top for me. I have a later German RCA pressing of the Heifetz/Munch Beethoven concerto that has great sound. The flimsy American "Dynaflex" discs do sound worse to me, but when RCA returned to the thicker vinyl in the late 70s, at least some sound at least as good as the original shaded dogs.

Right now I'm listening to a CD-R I made from a poor condition shaded dog LP of the Franck D minor symphony with Munch and the Boston Symphony. I tried to filter out the clicks and pops, but this one was just too far gone. I'll just get a later edition -- or the cd!
