Cyril Scott - his piano concerto #1 especially
Lennox Berkeley - I like pretty much everything of his I've heard
Richard Rodney Bennett - hip guitar concerto, symph. #1
Frank Bridge - The Sea
Arthur Bliss - again, I like everything of his I've heard
William Alwyn - symphonist
Daniel Jones - Symph's #1 & 4Among other attributes, these guys were/are interesting orchestrators whose music is colorful rather than ponderous or drab.
