Carmen McRae famously preferred to record live and in small group settings. The best one to me is The Great American Songbook (Atlantic), but other good ones are Live and Doin It (Mainstream), Fine and Mellow (Concord), Live at Sugar Hill(Time), etc. You might also enjoy As Time Goes By- Live at Dug ( Catalyst), a beautiful recording where she accompanies herself on piano. Can't vouch for the availability of any of these on CD, however...
