It's all about the music, dude! Sit down, relax and listen to some tunes.

Rostropovich

For those who may not have heard the news yet, Rostropovich was admitted to a Paris hospital last week, where he has a residence, but he refused treatment there. He then flew to Russia, where he was admitted for care at the leading Russian cancer clinic.

News has been scarce and sketchy. One Russian newspaper quoted hospital officials as saying that he had undergone a "complex operation" and that doctors are "seriously worried" about him. Rostropovich, 79, had an operation last fall, but returned to performing not long after.

He has been allowed only one visitor other than his immediate family. Russian President Vladimir Putin came to see him.

A spokesman for Rostropovich said that "he has fallen ill, but he will be okay" and that he is preparing for his birthday on March 27. She is also quoted as saying "Nothing threatens the life of musician; he simply doesn’t feel well."

However, his manager in NY said "It does not look good."

So, all we know for sure is that he is ill, and that, after a week in hospital, he has not yet been released. Which would suggest more than simply not feeling well.
