Beautiful to look at and to listen to. Gergiev admitted he was taking a plunge by giving Netrebco (young and unexperienced when this opera was recorded over 10 years ago) the role but sensibly considered a large and mature Lyudmila would not be appropriate. However, there was very little of her singing on the first of the 2 DVDs and everyone was so bored, we did not play the second.John
Do not criticise the idiots in this world - we need them as they make the rest of us look so much better :-)
